was founded in 1999, and has been serving Hong Kong's legal
and business community ever since. Our current clientele includes
major law firms, banks and hotels, as well as multinationals
in the fields of telecommunications, property development,
transportation, electronics and energy.

PacLegal
has a team of legal translators who are all rich in professional knowledge and experience
and are particularly adept at coping with technicalities in translation, especially where
legal and sophisticated commercial documents are involved. Our managing
director, Ms. Bridget Chi, is a US-qualified lawyer with
15 years' experience in Hong Kong working on PRC foreign direct investment
transactions and other commercial and regulatory matters in Hong Kong and China.
Our executive manager, Ms. Colleen Lau, has been a professional
legal translator and editor for 13 years. PacLegal
is capable of providing you with reliable and professional
translations, done as well as a discerning client could desire.

Bridget
Chi graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in 1987
with a bachelor's degree in Asian Studies and obtained her
Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center (Washington,
D.C.) in 1990. She is a lawyer qualified in California with
experience practicing law in the US as well as Hong Kong.
Ms. Chi is a native English speaker, is fluent in Mandarin,
and is familiar with both the simplified and traditional Chinese
writing system.

In
1990, Ms. Chi commenced her legal career with the Los Angeles
office of Rogers & Wells. In 1993, she
joined the Hong Kong practice of Kaye, Scholer, Fierman,
Hays & Handler. In 1997, she served as legal
editor at Asia Law & Practice, Ltd. for
its China publications including China Law & Practice
and the China Law Reference Service and also began
providing private legal consulting and translation services
to a variety of Hong Kong-based clients.

Colleen
Lau graduated from the City University of Hong Kong in 1994
with a higher diploma in Translation and Interpretation and
further obtained her master's degree in Applied Linguistics
in the UK from the University of York in 2001.

Upon
graduation in 1994, Ms. Lau joined Asia Law &
Practice, Ltd. as the editor and
translator for its periodical China Law & Practice
and for various books on China by the same publisher, including
Establishing A Representative Office in China and
The Encyclopedia of China Law. In 1997, she joined
the Hong Kong office of Allen & Overy
as a legal translator, providing translation services for
professionals within the firm as well as clients of the firm.
During the period between 2000 and 2002, Ms. Lau worked as
a legal translator for a number of professional firms including
Asia Information Associates Limited and Deacons.
In addition, she also began providing translation services
to Enlighten Hong Kong, a registered charitable
organization for people with epilepsy, and to the Hong Kong
office of Financial Times, a leading financial
publisher in the UK.
